Thanks to the dedicated hard work of the iPhone Dev Team, the iPhone running iPhone firmware 3.0; released on Wednesday, is now jailbreak able.

For the layman, jailbreak is the hack to enable the iPhone to run Apple unauthorized 3rd party applications on your iPhone.

Note: Personally I have less and less of a reason to jailbreak my iPhone, given all the excellent 3rd party applications (free and for fee) available in the Apple iTunes App Store. Especially with the latest iPhone firmware 3.0 added features and improvements.

Doing my part for the iPhone community I have to share with you how to jailbreak your iPhone.

WARNING: the current version of the Pwnage Tool for Macintosh will not include the tool, Ultrasn0w, that allow the “SIM unlock” of the iPhone running the 3.0 firmware. So if your iPhone (not the original iPhone) requires a “SIM unlock” to be able to used as a mobile phone on your current carrier’s network, please refrain from upgrading to 3.0 or use the latest release of Pwnage Tool for Macintosh. The iPhone Dev Team says that QuickPwn for Macintosh, QuickPwn for Windows and Ultrasn0w tools will be released soon.

If you are not an iPhone 3G S owner and you do not have the same believe as I do, then you can follow to iPhone Dev Team’s site to get the excellently made tool.
